Heads Up for the New 2026 Season: Oil & Coolant Containment Rules

Riders, as we roll into the new season, there’s an important update from Motorcycling Australia that you need to be aware of.

According to MA Bulletin #2066, all machines must now be fitted with either:

  • An integral lower fairing dam, or

  • A separate catch tray

The purpose? To trap and hold any engine oil and/or coolant, keeping the track safer for everyone.

In 2025, there was a bit of flexibility around this rule, but from 2026 onwards, compliance is mandatory. That means your bike must meet these requirements before scrutineering.

We know this may cause a bit of extra work! To help, check out our Facebook page or Members Group for chats and tips from other riders on belly pans and catch tray setups. Sharing ideas makes the transition easier for everyone.
